Monique Marvez’ career in the non ticketedworld of high priced charities and higher profile corporate events grew simultaneously with her super successful presence in the arena of stand up, television and radio, and not as a result of it. Perhaps it is because she entered the entertainment world in her twenties, after establishing herself in business first as a cosmetics executive and then in healthcare that she was hand picked right from the start in her hometown to perform at the prestigious Miami Jewish Home and Hospital, for Lucent Technologies, Errickson Telephones, Eckerd Drugs and the Merril Lynch Top One Hundred Producers event - a HUGE feather in any comedian/ host’s cap.
Barry Diller chose her to host her own local late night show within a few years of her fast start and the success in Miami lead to a shot in LA for a national pilot; that project helped her land hosting duties of the South Eastern United States’ portion of the New Year’s Eve Millennium Special with a LIVE cut in to Dick Clark’s broadcast seen by a billion people! Talk about a reliable, steady talent!
The last decade has seen Monique be a founding member along with Eva Longoria, of the Hot Tamales Comedy Troupe, which has been televised in English and Spanish, be honored with an Alma nomination for her Showtime Special, The Latin Divas of Comedy and get the chance of a lifetime to develop and write a vehicle for Dick Wolf Productions. She’s traveled to Iraq during wartime to entertain the troops, been blessed with a powerful performance in our nation’s capital for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and been the keynote speaker for the Woman Who Move San Diego at the Joan Kroc Center for Peace and Justice all while writing and performing everyday as drive time air talent.
This performer’s unique versatility is in her ability to tailor make material for any and all audiences. Charity events know they can count on her sensitivity to more conservative tastes and the presence of young people and event planners know they can request personalization for the clients.
Currently, Monique has left radio to focus on other projects. Her comedy is in heavy rotation on Sirius/XM and she has a book, onewoman show and several TV and digital concepts in development.
Monique provides clean corporate-friendly comedy from a dynamic and vivacious Latina woman’s perspective. Monique’s technique with her audiences is to garner laughter, but also inspire thought. Her quick wit and observational style of comedy will leave audiences rolling with laughter. Appropriate for corporate meetings, women’s groups and charitable events, Marvez’s sharp wit and observational abilities make her a quick study for a multitude of demographics.
